Kasey: Bridal Boudoir at Arch + Cable, Mankato
This is a short blog post about a recent client who had their first boudoir shoot with me. I can’t give you her name and if/when I add photos they will not include any that show her face. For this story, I’ll refer to her as Kasey. Kasey is strong, confident, and beautiful. She told me in our discussions that she is in the gym at least 5 days a week and greatly cares about her wellbeing and appearance. That all being said, leading up to her session, she was very upfront about how she was feeling less than perfect and that she didn’t know how to pose and the nerves were running high. We began chatting about the different outfits she ordered for her session and I suggested using the ones she felt the most confident in, not the ones she thought looked the best on the models wearing them. I also assured her that I would pose her to look her absolute best and avoid any poses that would be unflattering. “If I send you any that I like,” I told her, “but you don’t; they’re your photos, you don’t have to keep them!” We ended up having an amazing photo session, looking through Pinterest at poses that we could try, and every time I showed her the back of the camera, she would light up with excitement.
After sending Kasey’s gallery out, she was beyond thrilled! Her immediate reaction was “OH MY GOD!!!!!!! The book I order is gonna be like 200 pages long! There’s so many good ones!!!!!!!” I was not only proud of myself, but of her! She went from feeling down on herself to showing up for herself and then loving herself all over again! This interaction was the entire reason behind doing what I do. It’s so rewarding knowing that my photography could help someone see themselves for how amazing they really are.
